No More Sleep - A Multi-Platform Massively Online Multiplayer Role Playing Game (2022)
Creator, Programmer, Story Writer, World Designer, UI Designer, User Testing, Modeler, Particle Effects
For many years I developed games on Roblox for fun as a hobby growing up. It taught me the foundation of coding, and since then I’ve been able to apply what I’ve learned into multiple other languages, systems, and platforms. With No More Sleep, the goal is to create an entire game from scratch (100% my own code) without the use of open-sourced material, and get to a point where friends (on any platform) can join each other and interact with each other in real time. We’ve reached this point now, and now your friend in a Virtual Reality headset can interact with someone on Xbox, while interacting with a user on an iPhone 5, due to recent optimization updates. We plan to continue working on this game and adding new worlds, assets, content, features, and supported devices!
What started as a small coding project quickly became our own object-oriented game engine inside of another game engine. A bunch of code written exclusively for this game has been open sourced to help others create games that can change the future, including a music management system and our Virtual Reality compatibility script that runs on the server. (very few games on the Roblox platform have native Virtual Reality support, as it is extremely new.)
Over the past years since 2020, this has been a side project I’ve been working on, alongside some friends I’ve met that also help with building the maps for the game, and test devices for compatibility support. This game’s development has taught me an incredible amount about leadership, budgeting, and most of all, working in a team. We find a lot of people that help with the game have a secondary talent to their role and end up helping in all sorts of ways that change the way our team thinks about the game. This experience has made me very fortunate to be a part of the community No More Sleep has become.
We have a bulletin board with our list of things to do, and we check them off, one by one. And as of recently, with the newly added Virtual Reality support, the game fully supports any device that owns the parent Roblox game client, and is entirely free to play. This includes playability on devices including, but certainly not limited to:
Computer (Any modern day computer capable of running a browser.)
Phones & Tablets (iOS 9.0 or later // Android OS 5.0 or later // Kindle Fire Gen 3 Products or newer.)
Xbox (One // Series X/S).
Virtual Reality Headsets (HTC Vive // Quest 2 // Valve Index.*)
A membership program is coming soon that will have exclusive features, such as its own world where any member can get perks and items. Keep scrolling below to see the game’s full process and journey to today! To play the game, go above to the “Check Out the Game Page” button and install the Roblox client!
*Valve Index is still a work in progress as of 10/20/2022.

We now officially use the Roblox Future lighting engine, and it is a stellar leap from the compatibility lighting engine. With a couple months of optimization, we were able to get this to all of our supported devices with little to no lag! Also: these pictures are directly from the game! No touching up at all; these are direct screenshots.
